Parents of George Alcorn

George Alcorn is mentioned in the "History of Westmoreland County"; there it states that he was married to "Nancy Porter". Other records spell Nancy's name "Foster", which, when looking at the hand-written name, is easy to confuse. I am not certain which is the correct spelling. George Alcorn hailed from County Donegal, Ireland - I am looking to make a connection to his parents from there. Also on my tree is Michael Alcorn, who married George's daughter Jane. Michael's father is Joseph Alcorn, also from Donegal, Ireland. I believe that Michael and Joseph are somehow related to George, but I do not know how. Any information about the Ireland Alcorns would be greatly appreciated.

William Casper Kettering

William Casper Kettering, son of Phillip and Veronica (Stauffer) Kettering, was born circa 1800 and died between 1840 and 1850. Recently I found a notation in some old family notes indicating that he died around 1842 in a fall from his roof. His children were scattered about as orphans as of the 1850 Census. Please see Elizabeth (Ashbaugh) Kettering in this section also. I believe that Wm. Casper Kettering was born in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. His parents, Philip and Veronica, were married at the Tabor Church, but they have no record of William Casper's birth there. I've been looking for documentation of William's birth and marriage for many years - if anyone can help, I'd be very grateful.

Elizabeth (Ashbaugh) Kettering

Elizabeth Ashbaugh was married to William Casper Kettering. He died in or around 1842, presumably from a fall from his roof. Anecdotal information indicates that Elizabeth returned to her fathers place where she remarried, but died a few years later. Her children appeared on the 1850 census as living as orphans on various farms in the area. Looking for birth/death/marriage information for Elizabeth AND Wm. Casper.

Jane Maxwell

Jane Maxwell was the daughter of Adam Maxwell. She is not mentioned in his will, but in a court document submitted by her siblings at the time of her father's death. Anecdotal information indicates that when she married George Cook she was underage, and a letter of permission from Adam exists somewhere. Looking for her birth/death dates and record of her marriage to George Cook.

 Mystery Photos

Emma Cochran

This picture was taken around 1918 or 1920; the three girls in the foreground are (oldest to youngest) Katherine Alcorn, Margaret Alcorn, and Jane Alcorn; all are daughters of Joseph Nicolls Alcorn and Mary McElroy Alcorn. On the photo it is written that the woman in the background is Emma Cochran. Who is Emma Cochran? The grandfather of these girls, Robert Nicolls Alcorn, was a cousin to Mary Alcorn, who was the wife of William Cochran, but Emma is not one of their children as far as I can see.
