Mrs. Katherine A. Rise
Latrobe School Director Dies

A Greater Latrobe Board of Education director and former teacher at Latrobe High School died last night. 
Services Saturday
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Unity Chapel for Mrs. Katherine Alcorn Rise of Latrobe R.D. 1.  She was 58. Mrs. Rise was the chairman of the planning and policy committee of the GLSD.  She was chairman of the committee when the new senior high school plans were being formulated.  She was appointed to the school board in 1962 to fill the unexpired term of her husband who resigned.  She represented Unity Township, and her term expired this year.  Mrs. Rise taught in Latrobe High School from 1938 to 1944.  Previously she taught in New Castle and Bell Township schools.  She was graduated from Grove City College and University of Pittsburgh.  She was born January 12, 1907, in Bell Township, the daughter of the late Joseph Alcorn and Mrs. mary McElroy Alcorn.  Mrs. Rise was a member of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, the Latrobe Woman's Club, the Latrobe Civic Club, the Garden Club, and the Women's Association of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church. 
Survivors Listed
Surviving her are her husband, George D., her mother, son, George, at home, sisters: Mrs Fred (Margaret) Ewing, Delmont, Mrs. James (Jane) Zimmerman, mamony, and a brother, Joseph Alcorn, Bell Township.  The family will receive friends atth the M.S. Hartman Funeral Home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily.  The Rev. R. Vogelsang will officiate at the funeral services Saturday, and interment will be in Unity Cemetery
