    The Alcorn Girls
    The Alcorn Girls
In the foreground, the three daughters of Joseph Nicolls and Mary McElroy Alcorn: Katherine (eldest girl) Margaret, and Jane (youngest). The note on the original photograph indicates that the photo was taken around 1920; based on the apparent ages of the girls we think perhaps 1918. The woman in the background is identified in the picture as Emma Cochran from Pittsburgh. Cochran is a large family in Westmoreland and Armstrong Counties, and at least one Alcorn (Mary) married a Cochran (William). No doubt Emma is a family friend, perhaps a relative.
